Redemption Ribbed Beanie

Okay friends. My parents, kids and I went to Winterlude last weekend and my super supportive parents showed up representing my knits. My mom was wearing a Hypno Beanie using Sugar Bush Chill yarn that I made for her last year, and my dad was wearing the first hat I had ever crocheted. It was double crochet in the round with a floppy mopsy yarn pom (made without a pom pom maker, I might add) and he saw absolutely nothing wrong with it (bless him right?). On the way home, I started my search for a men's beanie but my dad didn't see anything he liked. Mostly because he's plain and simple and didn't want a double or folded brim or anything thick.

I started with a swatch and did a plain old 2 x 2 rib with Lionbrand Jean's yarn and It looked awesome! So here it is, a simple slouchy ribbed beanie that will redeem and show how much my skills have improved!

Here is what you need to get started:

- 4.25mm 16" circular needles

- worsted weight yarn (size 4) I used Lionbrand's Jeans

Follow corresponding size throughout pattern: S 18"(M 20", L 22") circumference but you could always play around with multiples of 4 for different sizes

Cast on 76(80, 84) sts

Row 1: *K2, P2, repeat * until end

Repeat Row 1 until desired length (I suggest 8" for fitted, 10" for slouchy, and 12" for optional fold up brim and super slouchy)

Decrease:

k2tog, p2tog

K1, P1 for 2 rounds then pass a threaded darning needle through all stitches and cinch tight!

You could add a yarn pom (just take my advice and just use the pom maker) or a faux fur one!

Tadum, that's it! If you use my pattern please credit back to this page and tag me on instagram @ninabellaknits and in all etsy listings for finished products!
